I started in the elevator industry in March of 1980 with Dover Elevator Company in the construction department. Worked for Otis Elevator Company for four years mostly in construction, acquired some service and repair experience. Also, worked at Montgomery Elevator Company in the service and repair department where I received most of my training by one of Denver’s best repair mechanic Jerry Brunette who to this day I consider my mentor. I achieved mechanic status in 1987 and worked in the service department until 2014 when I was elected to Business Representative for Local 25.
I have been a strong advocate of the I.U.E.C., and a member in good standing for my entire career. My son Joey Omar recently joined our union and I had the great honor and privilege to initiate him into this organization that I have respected for so many years. I was appointed Treasurer in late 2005 and later voted into the position which I occupied for over nine years. I trully enjoy the financial side of our locals business but had to vacate the Treasurer position once elected to Business Representative.
